Americansingles.com was the dating service I used to use some time ago and it is from the same company Spark.com
I experienced two very interesting incidents. I put my profile on Americansingles.com but did not pay to subscribe for a while. One day, a lady contacted me with strong interest on me. She claimed she was a Russian and her email showed some English mistakes and I decided to subscribe and replied to her email, but she never replied. I saw her picture and she was a beautiful lady with a name. Anyway, I kept my subscription for a while and kept on paying my membership fee. After a while a lady contacted me and introduced herself. I checked her picture and she had an exactly same picture (same lady) but a different name. At that time, I realized that the company "Americansingles.com" impersonates interested subscribers to trick people to subscribe.

I apologize for any hassle you experienced. I can assure you, we are doing our very best to protect our members from such users. We do not participate in creating false profiles to “bait” our customers into purchasing a subscription.
We actively prevent them from joining our site and remove them as quickly as possible if they slip through our filters. It is impossible to catch everyone, but we are conscientiously improving the measures we have in place. Members are welcome to report anyone that you are suspicious of and we will gladly review the account in a very timely manner. We appreciate our member’s efforts that aid us in this process.
